Using abalone shells as smudge bowls is rooted in Native American cultures, and at Greenbird Wellness, we honor that sacred tradition, appreciating the cultural origins of this practice and the wisdom it has shared with us.
I decided to give these shells a unique name, inspired by the muscle scar on the inside middle part of the shell, which showcases incredible detail and best describes what I see visually as an artist. I invite you to look for the artistic details that these healing shells have naturally created.
What makes these shells special is that Rodney, the founder, has dived for these sea crustaceans with his family for years along the coast of Mendocino County, near a family beach house they own. Recently, he discovered all these shells on their property 15+ years later and decided to collect, clean, and chemically treat them, making them available to you, the buyer. By purchasing one, you are owning a piece of history passed down from his family to you.
