Unity's Meaning

When I created the color story for Greenbird Wellness, it needed true meaning because we live in a world saturated with "been there, done that" approaches. Now, more than ever, intention matters; it's about the purpose behind what we do—not just pushing out products for profit. Unity is a word I connect with deeply, especially as I look back at starting my brand in 2021/2022. I initially launched with a body-care line, inspired by my reputation for skincare routines, though I’ve shared less about my profession as a massage therapist. Eventually, I evolved into becoming a Certified Medical Massage Practitioner.

Connecting with people has always been natural for me, and I easily see through and shut down those who are false or superficial. Toxic energy and irrelevant nonsense don’t sit well with me. We all carry this trait to some degree, so it’s something to stay mindful of. I’m far from perfect and don’t pretend to be. Becoming a healer wasn’t something that naturally aligned with me or my upbringing. I often spoke and thought in ways that didn’t resonate with my family’s beliefs, shaped as they were by rigid religious views. As a teenager and even into my mid-20s, I had frequent precognitive dreams, though I never fully tapped into their significance. I believe my unconscious upbringing limited my mind's evolution.

Our upbringing can leave us with habits we might never fully shake off. Acknowledging these patterns and consciously stripping them away lets us move forward. I’ve always been deeply connected to nature, growing up in Sonoma County and being surrounded by privilege in Marin County. The forest was accessible to me even on our family’s private property—hundreds of acres in Oregon—which I experienced from a young age. Being surrounded by towering redwoods and evergreens is healing; trees carry deep symbolism. Redwoods, in particular, symbolize longevity, power, strength, energy, and protection.

The first color in this story is brown, representing the roots, trunks, and leaves of plants. Brown is symbolic; it represents household protection, family, animals, and, most importantly, stability. We live in a time where stability seems unattainable, especially here in California. Manifesting a harmonious life shouldn’t be challenging, yet it often is. The deep earthy brown candle grounds us in our connection to the earth, and it resonates with the Zodiac signs Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn, the earth signs. We all can learn much about ourselves by reconnecting with our origins, the earth.

Green, naturally, represents leaves, foliage, and stems. The color green often typically symbolizes money and abundance, yet it also speaks to growth and expansion in life. Expansion in this sense means letting go of unconscious contraction and being present in the here and now. Letting go doesn’t come easily to most; as humans, it’s natural to hold on to things, even keeping mental receipts for the right opportunity. But sometimes, releasing what holds us back is the greatest form of growth. Using the green candles is personal—there’s no right or wrong way, as each speaks to you individually.

Finally, a white candle is essential in this set, representing a substitute for any color not present. White symbolizes peace, clarity, cleansing, and new beginnings, ideal for those who want a broader view without going deeper. Though simple, it holds its place in this color story. I use white candles often; they are perfect for tying in energies of different elements, such as water, air, or even metal, depending on what you believe in.

I know that this was a lengthy post, but I feel this is where I can write my thoughts out without having to come on camera or even in a post on SM. I hope you enjoyed this and look forward to the next one 😊🖤
